Your plan (Pittsburgh Plan Unit 106)
is a grandfathered health plan

UNITE HERE HEALTH believes that your plan (Pittsburgh Plan Unit 106) is a “grandfathered health plan” under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Affordable Care Act). As allowed by the act, these plans can preserve certain basic health coverage that was already in place when that law went into effect on March 23, 2010. As a grandfathered plan, your plan must comply with various benefit changes required by the Affordable Care Act (like the elimination of lifetime limits on benefits). However, please note that these plans don’t have to implement all benefit changes provided for in the act.

We can answer questions like:

  • Which provisions of the Affordable Care Act apply to a grandfathered health plan?
  • Which provisions do not apply?
  • What actions by the plan might cause it to lose grandfathered status?
