The Culinary Health Fund and UNITE HERE HEALTH are proud to announce the John Wilhelm Endowed Scholarship!John Wilhelm was the President of UNITE HERE, a national organizer for local unions in the United States and Canada, for almost two decades. Throughout his career, he was a passionate advocate for union members and their families. His vision was for all members to have access to quality affordable healthcare.
This scholarship continues his legacy to improve the health and lives of working families. It was created to provide eligible participants and dependents an opportunity to pursue a degree in healthcare at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).
Who qualifies for the John Wilhelm Endowed Scholarship?
- Current eligible participants with at least 3 years of continuous UNITE HERE HEALTH or Culinary Health Fund benefits.
- Dependents are also eligible. He or she has to be an eligible dependent of a current eligible participant with at least 3 years of continuous UNITE HERE HEALTH or Culinary Health Fund benefits.
- Must be an enrolled student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).
- Pursuing a degree in Public Health, Nursing or a major within the School of Allied Health Sciences.
- Have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher.
- Be enrolled as a part-time or full-time undergraduate student and have a class standing of a junior or higher.
How do you apply for the John Wilhelm Endowed Scholarship?
Eligible participants and dependents must apply for the scholarship through the UNLV Financial Aid and Scholarships Office by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) along with other requirements. View UNLV's financial aid page or call (702) 895-3011, option 4.
